NEXT BOARD MEETING
The next Board Meeting will be held Tuesday, June 18,
2002 at 6:30 p.m. at the Carmel Mountain/Sabre Springs Rec. Center. Members are
invited to attend and partake during the open session.
LANDSCAPE UPGRADES
The Tree removal/replacement program for the slope
located on the corner of Poway Road and Springhurst Drive, started some time ago,
is now back on track. The Board has reached a decision to replace the previously
removed trees with twelve Sycamore trees. The trees will be planted midway down
the slope and are expected to enhance the slope once they mature. In addition to
the above tree work, the Board has reached a decision to remove some of the Eucalyptus
trees along the Evening Creek slope. During the winter windstorms some of the
trees lost branches. While cleaning up the fallen debris, it was noticed that
the trunks of some of these trees are splitting. An arborist reviewed the trees
and found that they should be removed for safety reasons. With the new plant
material growing along the Stonybrook I & II wall, Pacific Properties is recommending
that additional Bougainvillea vines be planted to enhance appearance. The Board
will be considering this item at their next meeting.
WEB PAGE INFORMATION
As a reminder, architectural forms for exterior modifications
can be obtained through the Association's web site. All exterior changes need
prior architectural approval. Please be sure and allow enough time for review
and approval prior to planning your work. Homeowners are also encouraged to utilize
the bulletin board to share information on home maintenance with other members.
The community web page address is www.sabrespringshoa.org.
QUARTERLY BILLING STATEMENTS
At their recent meeting, the Board discussed the possibility
of changing from monthly to quarterly billing statements. If adopted, members
would submit a payment of $75 each quarter instead of $25 each month. By changing
to quarterly billing statements it would reduce the Association's administrative
costs in excess of $5,000 a year. A few years back when the Board initiated a
poll on this idea, the consensus among the members was to not to make the change.
The board would like to hear from you with comments on whether or not to consider
this change. Please submit your comments on the quarterly billing change by e-mail
or phoning management (see mgmt. info below).
SABRE SPRINGS PLANNING DEPARTMENT
The Sabre Springs Planning Department is seeking volunteers to sit on their
Board. If you are interested, please attend the next Planning Department Meeting.
Meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of every month (with the exception
of August) at 7:00 p.m. at the Carmel Mountain Rec. Center - S.S. New projects
for the Sabre Springs area are discussed at the meetings and Board members will
have a say in what is approved. For additional information about the Planning Department,
please contact Rick Smith at 619-533-7150.
PAINT DISCOUNT
Springtime is a good time to look at the exterior of your home for maintenance
needs such as the painting of trim, stucco or your fence. The Frazee paint store
in Carmel Mountain Ranch offers a discount to Sabre Springs homeowners who purchase
paint in their store. Updated Exterior home colors are for the North Creek and
Saddle Ridge homes and are posted at this store. Homeowners are encouraged to
review the colors and select a new paint scheme for their home. By using a newer
color, the value of your property increases.
RULES ENFORCEMENT
Each month an inspection of the community is performed. Items that are addressed
are weekly mowing of lawns, regular watering and fertilizing of plant material
as well as painting and cleaning needs. Please take the time to inspect the exterior
of your home and address these issues to avoid getting courtesy reminders in the
mail.
REMINDER
As always, if you have a question about improvements to your property and how
to get them approved, or need information about the association, please contact
the Community Manager at the phone number and e-mail address listed.
WALKING TRAIL
Looking for a place to take a nice leisurely stroll? Try the Chicarita Creek
Walking Trail with two entrances on Evening Creek Drive and one on Sabre Springs
Parkway next to the Stoneybrook Community. The best parking is along Evening
Creek Drive. The area is beautiful and includes an archeological site. The
exercise stations along the trail are maintained by the Sabre Springs Neighborhood
Association and are there for your enjoyment.
